a trip on A hill

we went out for a date. its been sometime that we have done so, you know walking around unpurposefully. well, actually we did have a purpose. if i am to read the signs right, i suppose what happened in the past few weeks, seems to point to one thing; we should SETTLE DOWN.

so that day, we went out to shop/window shop for settled people's stuffs.

.......................................................................

stop 1:

style:nordic

very nice stuffs which of course we didnt think we were going to buy anyway because of the prices.

but it was a nice lil shop which serves as a reminder that there is more to scandinavian design than just...ehmmm ikea..

this shope is a collective of sorts. of scandinavian designed items.
the owner was very chatty. the gayest, as in very friendly, scandinavian we have ever met.

cool stuffs , but i was a bit shy of taking out my rather clumsy uncool-looking cammy to take pics here. but you would have already seen pics of his shop featured on the papers and a few mags by now.

.................................................

stop 2:

after we walked out of stop 1, the husband took a cig break...

and it was then we got picked up on the streets. we were sold! for a mere $25..

.................................................

stop 3:

i dunno why i stepped in here. i wonder why. it wasnt actually in our plan..but hey, maybe its divine intervention again. (like i have been getting a lot of that these past few weeks)

this is the most boring cot in the entire place..

really they have many more gorgeous gorgeous cots..but they were in the front part of the shop..this was at the back section, where i sneakily took a pic..the mural is nice though.

and these next ones...

we discussed about them. if we should get them in the future, you know, when we have kids..because,you know they are so retro..

oops wrong..they are vintage. vintage prams. i thought they were cool but the salesperson actually said they werent very practical..hahahah may not fit in your hdb lift. then on second thoughts, we felt they looked more like props in a scary dolls movie..

ahhh and this one..

one of the many many cute cute lil things ..

tralalalala..too bad we are not expecting any right now..

hmmm...

and the other interesting part of the shopping at this stop was actually the sales person..i think the sales people at AS hill must be a bit bored that saturday. at the nordic store we discussed the relations between stockholmites with the southernswedes and at this shop it was willingly shared with us the relations between texans and californians. very strange. but he was a very interesting GUY. yes, a malay pakcik. the sole sale person, specially picked by the millionaire expat owner to sell baby wares. but that pakcik has one interesting life story.

...........................................

we spent a long time at stop 1 and 3 chatting. and stop 2 was where we spent almost half an hour doing a market survey and getting $25 each for that. the other shops were closing or closed by the time we got out of stop 3..but maybe i'll go back if just to look for inspirations.

the other stop: found a place where they sell noguchi coffee table..repros..pirated..among many other pirated classics like the bertoias...lol..cheaper but not so cheap and not on the hill though.

there is a unit in SGH called the sleeping disorder unit. someone i know went for a test there, couple of days ago. i am not exactly sure what ails her, maybe it was more than one; insomnia+too much dreaming = non-restful sleep. as it turned out, the test was a failure. hooked up with wires and tubes to machines to monitor, among other things; her brain activities and snoring pattern, she couldnt actually sleep most times! because it was too cold, because it was simply uncomfortable. so i think they couldnt get much data to process for that one night stay.

me on the other hand, i think i am developing another mini round of sleeping disordeliness..if there is such a word. i am, i have to admit, getting a lil bit nervous or maybe anxious about the next coming weeks, if not consiously, sub-consiously because i have been waking up a few times in the nights. it seems i am an active processor at night, so when i wake up..my mind is actually awake with thoughts on daily trivialities like "oh did i keep this in the correct place?" that type of stuffs and the "what ifs" in fact i have many what ifs in my mind. so stupid right?

i have to get rid of the negative thoughts. start moving..especially becoz i still have a lot of work to clear before next week :(

Getting Away With It...

Those who feel the breath of sadness
Sit down next to me
Those who find they’re touched by madness
Sit down next to me
Those who find themselves ridiculous
Sit down next to me

In love, in fear, in hate, in tears
In love, in fear, in hate, in tears

~Sit Down. James
..............................................................

now that the husband is away for...errr.. 1 night for now..he has prepared me with a stack of dvds to occupy my time/night...we've been hooked to the James Live DVD (i know its a bit late-2002)..i requested that he rent it for the second time again from VideoEzy. i think we should just buy this one..because this band is quite special.

this is one of the few bands that we love equally. most other stuffs he and me listen we like partially..not as much together. i took away all his James Cds during our pre-marriage day..and got away with it..and they are all somewhere still in my flat.

...oh, and that someone out there whom i remember, likes james as well..you MUST get this dvd. it's good.

also wanted to go to serangoon yesterday to buy my coli (hahahahha yes) becoz i may want to wear a sari next weekend for something. but dank we were so tired, we just stayed home.

i will get my coli next week, and you will lend me your sari.

......................................................................................

i guess if you are not really in the mood for raya, you'll still get drawn to it dont you.

since saturday we have been doing a bit of helping around and shopping for stuffs. my brother came along with us. and it was good he came along. long time ago he was sometimes my shopping companion especially when it comes to grocery shopping..he would be the tukang bawak beg. it's even better now..he can now foot the bills instead of just me.

anyway, i did my baking at jellicoe road on that saturday too. did a batch of double choc cookie. thanks cik yah for the recipe. they were good.

when we got back to bedok, the husband told me he wanted to bake..muahahahah..very interesting. it was 10pm sunday night, and i was feeling a bit tired already, and the next day was a work day, but he still was quite enthusiastic about baking. i think he missed out food&nutrition when he was in school. back then during our time, boys in school only do d&t.

so i took out the super easy idiiot proof but classic and good, guarantee can make it cookie recipe. they turned out well, and he was proud of his first ever baked goods, he ate a number of them that night.
